The Commission Process

We’ll start with an email or phone call to discuss the details of your commission. If it's a storytelling commission, I’ll ask about the people, pets, and memories you'd like included in the painting. We’ll also talk about meaningful items or colors to incorporate. We’ll finalize whether the painting will be shipped or picked up.

1. Initial Consultation

I’ll send over an invoice and contract. Once you sign and pay the 50% deposit, we’ll move on to the next stage.

2. Invoice, Contract, and Deposit

I’ll send a watercolor draft or pencil sketch for your feedback. You can suggest up to three changes. During this step, I’ll weave in the personal elements discussed in the consultation.

3. Drafts and Approval

Once the draft is approved, I’ll create a final outline. If everything looks good, I’ll begin painting.

4. Final Outline and Painting

Once the painting is complete and the remaining balance is paid, I’ll package it with a certificate of authenticity. The painting will be shipped to you or available for pick-up at my studio in Waynesboro, PA. (8 East Main St. Waynesboro, PA 17268)

All paintings come in a clear plastic envelope with a backing board and Certificate of Authenticity.

  • Typically, a commission will be ready within 1-2 weeks, but larger projects may take 3-5 weeks. If you need the painting by a specific date, let me know and we’ll work out a timeline.

Purchasing the painting does not transfer the copyright. I retain all rights to the artwork, including the right to display it in my portfolio, online, or in exhibitions. Any transfer of copyright must be in writing and will specify the rights being sold.

Artist Rights
I reserve the right to decline any commission request at my sole discretion and for any reason, without the obligation to provide an explanation. This applies to all inquiries, regardless of project type, budget, timeline, or prior communications.

  1. Submitting a request for a commission does not guarantee acceptance or a working agreement. No client-artist relationship is formed until a formal agreement is made and payment terms (if applicable) are established. This policy is in place to maintain artistic integrity, professional boundaries, and the well-being of all parties involved.
